claude's next front is the office file, not the terminal. the oct 6 public beta puts claude inside google docs, sheets and slides with live in-file editing for all paid plans.
the agentic workplace is being won where documents already live.
Context
Claude's announcement says Claude for Google Workspace is now in public beta on all paid Claude plans, adding Claude to Google Docs, Sheets and Slides so it can work in open files, plus new Google Docs, Sheets and Slides connectors (beta) that create and edit files from within Claude.
It says that in Docs Claude can fix a sentence or restyle a heading in place or propose edits as suggestion cards, that in Sheets it can write formulas, build pivot tables and charts and add tabs, and that in the default 'Ask before edits' mode each change waits for approval, while 'Accept all edits' applies them without stopping.
The public beta on all paid plans and the Docs, Sheets and Slides scope match the post. 'Live in-file editing' is a fair summary of the in-place edits, but the default mode asks for approval before each edit, which the post leaves out.
The announcement is dated October 6, matching the note. 'Being won where documents already live' is the author's claim. The pages read describe a product launch and make no claim about who is winning.
