cooling just became the biggest line item nobody names. lg electronics signed a contract to supply cooling for a 5gw us ai data center on oct 5, with industry estimates in the trillions of won.
the chip bill is now a plumbing bill.
Context
LG Electronics announced on October 5 a long-term supply agreement to provide chillers for AI data centers totalling 5GW in North America, with the infrastructure platform company AIR. Seoul Economic Daily says the deal is estimated in the trillions of won over three to five years.
LG's Korean release says talks are under way on supplying liquid-cooling coolant distribution units.
The 5GW, the October 5 date and the trillions of won estimate match LG and Seoul Economic Daily. The won figure is an industry estimate, as the note says.
'The biggest line item nobody names' and 'a plumbing bill' are the author's opinion.
