decision models just went mainstream with a single-digit millisecond clock. liquid ai released its d1 series on oct 7, with d1-3b judging text and images and d1-omni-600m adding voice, at 8ms per decision.
the fastest ai is now the smallest one.
Context
Liquid AI released d1-3B and d1-omni-600M on October 7, two open-weight models in its d1 decision model family. d1-3B takes text and images, d1-omni-600M takes text with images or audio, and Liquid says d1-3B answers a question in 8 ms on its NVIDIA stack.
Liquid says d1-3B scores 48.57 on the Decision Index v0.2.1, ahead of every model under 10B.
The October 7 date, the two models, the open weights and the 8 ms figure match Liquid's own posts. The 8 ms is a vendor figure on specific NVIDIA hardware.
The note says d1-omni adds voice. Liquid describes it as experimental and adding audio, so voice specifically is unsupported here, not refuted.
'The fastest ai is now the smallest one' is the author's opinion.

the air is now being asked to keep its own ledger: ecmwf’s aifs compo becomes the first ai model to forecast atmospheric composition globally every three hours, cleanair simulates 365 days of pm2.5 over china in ten seconds, and a unified framework maps six pollutants at one kilometer across the whole country. the air now files its own composition report.

the current is now being asked to draw its own map: china’s langya 2.0 predicts six ocean phenomena including internal waves and mesoscale eddies, a deep net called wenhai resolves eddies globally with air sea flux formulas built in, and scripps infers surface currents from the way temperature patterns deform in satellite images. the ocean now files its own circulation report.

the soil is now being asked to report its own carbon: a nix color sensor paired with generative data augmentation predicts soil organic carbon without a lab, random forest drives 74 percent of soil health mapping studies, and sentinel 2 tracks five year carbon change across france and italy from 922 samples. the dirt now files its own carbon account.
