the agent just shipped itself in sixteen days. in a public test, qwen3.8 started from an empty folder with one prompt and built an evolving agent framework called oh-my-cli on its own, no human edits, per oct 10 reporting.

the changelog now writes itself.

Context

Alibaba's Qwen3.8-Max, released Aug 3, 2026, is described by GMI Cloud as having built oh-my-cli from scratch over 16 days of fully autonomous operation, accumulating 265 commits, 127 pull requests and 151 issues. Requirements enter GitHub Issues, an agent claims them, implements, runs CI and merges.

The oh-my-cli repository is public on GitHub under a Qwen bot account.

How it compares

The 16 days, the empty starting repository, the oh-my-cli project and the autonomy claim match the sources, which are dated Aug 3 to 7, not Oct 10. The sources credit Qwen3.8-Max and Alibaba's own claim. Starting from one prompt and zero human edits were not seen in the excerpts read, so unsupported here, not refuted. The sources say zero intervention.

'the changelog now writes itself' is the author's opinion.
