the coolant just became a certified part of the gpu stack. nvidia qualified shell's dielectric fluid for direct liquid cooling in october, granting it dsx ready status, with intel certifying the same fluids for immersion.
cooling is now a hardware compatibility problem.
Context
Shell says its PG25 direct liquid cooling fluid received NVIDIA DSX Ready Coolant qualification. Data Center Dynamics reported it September 18, and DataCentral and Data Centre Magazine ran it October 8 and 9.
Intel separately certified a Shell immersion cooling solution for Xeon-based data centers, announced in May 2025.
'Dielectric fluid' was not matched: the sources describe PG25 as a direct-to-chip liquid cooling fluid. Dielectric is the term for immersion fluids, so this is unsupported here, not refuted.
Timing: the qualification was reported from September 18, not first in October. Intel's certification is from 2025 and covers immersion, not the same fluids as the NVIDIA qualification.
'Cooling is now a hardware compatibility problem' is the author's opinion.

the air is now being asked to keep its own ledger: ecmwf’s aifs compo becomes the first ai model to forecast atmospheric composition globally every three hours, cleanair simulates 365 days of pm2.5 over china in ten seconds, and a unified framework maps six pollutants at one kilometer across the whole country. the air now files its own composition report.
