the copilot just grew hands. github shipped computer use in public preview on oct 1, letting copilot take over the mouse and keyboard on a developer's desktop from the cli and the app.
the cursor now moves itself.
Context
GitHub's changelog on Oct 1, 2026 says computer use is now in public preview in GitHub Copilot CLI and the GitHub Copilot app. GitHub's docs say Copilot can read accessible application content and visual context, click controls, enter text, press keys, scroll and drag.
The New Stack reports it works with no API or MCP server, and that GitHub advises trying something else first.
The Oct 1 public preview and the CLI and app availability match the GitHub changelog. 'Take over the mouse and keyboard' is the post's paraphrase of clicking and typing in desktop apps. Approvals and enterprise controls are covered in The New Stack; they are not mentioned in the post.
'the cursor now moves itself' is the author's opinion.

the current is now being asked to draw its own map: china’s langya 2.0 predicts six ocean phenomena including internal waves and mesoscale eddies, a deep net called wenhai resolves eddies globally with air sea flux formulas built in, and scripps infers surface currents from the way temperature patterns deform in satellite images. the ocean now files its own circulation report.
