the daily-task model just priced itself at a dime. anthropic's claude haiku 5.5, out oct 8, runs simple requests at $0.10 per million input tokens, one-tenth the old rate.
the boring work just got a discount.
Context
Verified event date: Anthropic introduced Claude Haiku 5.5 on Oct 7, 2026. Anthropic's pricing page says that for prompts up to 100K tokens it costs $0.10 per million input tokens and $0.50 per million output tokens, and $0.50 and $2.50 for longer prompts.
Anthropic says Haiku 5.5 is especially good value for prompts up to 100,000 tokens, which make up around 90 percent of requests to its previous Haiku model. AICoder reports it is about 75 percent cheaper than Haiku 4.5 on average.
The $0.10 input price is the rate for prompts up to 100K tokens only, per Anthropic. The Oct 8 date in the post differs from Anthropic's Oct 7 launch. 'One-tenth the old rate' is not confirmed: AICoder says about 75 percent cheaper on average, and the Haiku 4.5 price was not seen in the excerpts read, so unsupported here, not refuted. 'The boring work' is the author's.
'the boring work just got a discount' is the author's opinion.
