the decision model just answered in 16 milliseconds. liquid ai open-sourced its d1 line on oct 7, with the 3b variant topping sub-10b models and running on a jetson agx thor.

the edge now decides faster than the cloud round-trip.

Context

Verified date: Liquid AI's blog dated Oct 7, 2026 says it released d1-3B and d1-omni-600M, two open-weight models in its d1 decision model family. d1-3B scores 48.57 on the Decision Index v0.2.1 public split, ahead of every model under 10B and on par with Decider 35B-A3B, which is 12x its size.

The Hugging Face card says d1-3B is built on LFM2.5-VL-3B, takes a state and a set of questions and returns calibrated, typed answers in one forward pass with zero output tokens.

How it compares

The Oct 7 date, the open release and the top spot among sub-10B models match Liquid AI. The 16 millisecond answer time and the run on a Jetson AGX Thor were not seen in the sources read, so unsupported here, not refuted. The model card excerpt read measures latency on an Apple M5 Pro. 'The edge now decides faster than the cloud round-trip' is the author's opinion.
