the entry ticket just got pricier. permanent hires in france's most ai-exposed jobs sat 28 percent below late-2022 levels by march, versus 8 percent for the least exposed, per banque de france data.
the diploma is no longer the moat it was.
Context
The Banque de France said on Oct 8 that among 21 to 29 year-olds, permanent contract hires in the occupational quintile most exposed to AI were around 28 percent below their November 2022 level in March 2026, against 8 percent for the least exposed quintile. That is a gap of about 20 percentage points.
The gap narrows for older age groups and almost disappears at 50 and over.
The 28 and 8 percent figures match the Banque de France note. The note applies them to 21 to 29 year-olds, which the post leaves out. Its baseline is November 2022. The diploma claim is the author's reading.
'the diploma is no longer the moat it was' is the author's opinion.
