the ide just started finishing your sentences. openai's codex now suggests your next prompt in beta for pro users, announced oct 9, and its always-on dots agents can be started from a phone.
the tab key just became a delegate.
Context
OpenAI's help center, dated Oct 9, 2026, says composer predictions in Codex is a beta for users 18 and older on personal ChatGPT Pro plans. It suggests what you might say next in a Codex desktop thread, based on the conversation, with GPT-6 Astra and GPT-6.1 Sol.
TSN Media reports that on Oct 9 OpenAI also said dots, ChatGPT's always-on agents, can be created from a phone and can start work in Codex.
Composer predictions in beta for Pro users and dots started from a phone both match the Oct 9 reports. The help center limits the feature to local and SSH threads in the Codex desktop app, so 'the ide' is the desktop app. Dots themselves launched Sep 29 per OpenAI, so only the phone and Codex hand-off is new here.
'the tab key just became a delegate' is the author's opinion.
