the licensed image market just got its biggest supplier. visual china says it holds 700 million licensed images for generative ai and signed training deals with alibaba and microsoft, reported oct 5.

copyright is becoming a moat with an inventory count.

Context

AIbase reported on October 20, 2025 that Visual China said it holds over 700 million high-quality, copyright-compliant content data items available for AI model training and has secured compliance data service orders from large model companies such as Alibaba and Microsoft. The report says it also reached strategic cooperation with AIGC companies to build a 'commercially usable + traceable' visual creativity model.

A June 15, 2026 article in the 21st Century Business Herald says Visual China filed for a Hong Kong H-share listing on June 14, 2026 and lists AI capability as the first use of proceeds. It says the prospectus cites more than 700 million items of copyright-clear content as of December 31, 2025, covering images, video, audio and 3D/CG models, and shows training-data business with Microsoft, Alibaba, Tencent and MiniMax.

How it compares

The 700 million figure, the Alibaba and Microsoft training orders and the generative AI use match the sources. They are dated October 2025 and June 2026, not October 5, 2026, so 'reported oct 5' is not supported by the pages read and may refer to later coverage that was not found. That is unsupported here, not refuted.

'700 million licensed images' is narrower than the source wording. The prospectus count covers images, video, audio and 3D/CG models, and the 2025 AIbase report calls them content data. An earlier investor note from February 2025 gave over 200 million images and nearly 15 million videos available for training.

'Biggest supplier' is the author's line, and no ranking against other suppliers was found. The figures are the company's own. Its prospectus shows core content licensing revenue fell 14.1% in 2025, which shows the AI data line is a small, growing part of a shrinking base.
