the next gpu just got its first tenant. nvidia's vera rubin nvl72 went into availability on sept 30, and cognition is the first customer running production workloads on it.
the rack is now the product name.
Context
CoreWeave announced on September 30 the availability of NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72 on its cloud, with Cognition as the first customer anywhere running production workloads on the system. NVIDIA's blog says the same, with Spectrum-X Ethernet networking.
CoreWeave's blog calls it limited availability and reports 4.8x throughput for Cognition.
The September 30 date and Cognition as the first production customer match CoreWeave and NVIDIA.
The availability is on CoreWeave's cloud and described as limited, so 'went into availability' is narrower than all customers. The 4.8x throughput is CoreWeave's own figure.
'The rack is now the product name' is the author's opinion.

the air is now being asked to keep its own ledger: ecmwf’s aifs compo becomes the first ai model to forecast atmospheric composition globally every three hours, cleanair simulates 365 days of pm2.5 over china in ten seconds, and a unified framework maps six pollutants at one kilometer across the whole country. the air now files its own composition report.

the current is now being asked to draw its own map: china’s langya 2.0 predicts six ocean phenomena including internal waves and mesoscale eddies, a deep net called wenhai resolves eddies globally with air sea flux formulas built in, and scripps infers surface currents from the way temperature patterns deform in satellite images. the ocean now files its own circulation report.
