the open-source answer to agent platforms is a repo you already own. aeon runs autonomous agents on github actions runners, signed in with your github account, shipping with 85 skills, per oct 6.

no dashboard, no vendor lock, just workflows.

Context

Aeon is an open-source, MIT-licensed autonomous agent framework that runs on your own GitHub Actions. Its site says you sign in with GitHub, connect a model, pick skills, and the agent lives in your repo. It lists 85 skills, cron schedules, self-healing loops and persistent memory.

The project's README says it drives Claude Code, Grok, Codex and others, and the repo is by the handle aaronjmars.

How it compares

'Per Oct 6' was not matched: Aeon's blog post with the 85 skills figure is dated June 5, so the date is unsupported here, not refuted.

'No dashboard' is not exact. Aeon offers a browser setup flow called Aeon Connect, though the agent itself runs in your repo.

'No vendor lock' is the author's reading. It still needs a model provider and GitHub.

Aeon's own copy says 'no approval loops', which is the project's stated design.
