the planet finder just moved to a new sky. nasa's exominer, an ai model that already found 370 exoplanets, is now digging through tess data, per an oct 8 update.

the telescope's overflow is now the model's job.

Context

Coverage from early September says NASA's ExoMiner++, an updated AI system, flagged roughly 7,000 possible exoplanet signals in an initial run on TESS data, and that these are candidates needing follow-up, not confirmed planets.

A Sept 15 IOPscience paper, COUNTESS I, builds a uniformly vetted catalog of known and new transiting exoplanets in the TESS Northern Continuous Viewing Zone.

How it compares

ExoMiner++ working on TESS data matches the Sept coverage. The '370 exoplanets already found' figure and the 'oct 8 update' were not seen in the excerpts read, so they are unsupported here, not refuted.

'The telescope's overflow is now the model's job' is the author's opinion. The coverage stresses that the 7,000 are candidates.
