The storm is now being asked to file its own minutes
the storm is now being asked to file its own minutes: a diffusion model trained on satellite and radar frames predicts mesoscale weather at ten minute intervals for six hours ahead, a second system extends radar nowcasting to four hundred ten minutes by treating it as video generation, and a mask diffusion transformer keeps its forecasts reliable even when the radar has holes.
the sky now files its own precipitation log.
Context
Three sources were read. NVIDIA's StormScope paper (arXiv 2601.17268, January 2026) trains on geostationary satellite and ground radar observations, forecasts at 10 minute and 6 km resolution, and is described as competitive with mesoscale numerical models for lead times up to 6 hours, with its radar reflectivity forecasts beating HRRR with statistically significant improvement up to 4 hours and comparable results at 6 hours. The npj Climate and Atmospheric Science paper on 3D radar nowcasting (27 April 2026) uses a conditional diffusion model. An EchoCast-3D abstract describes a Mask Diffusion Transformer backbone that generates complete predictions even when observations have missing areas.
The 10 minute and 6 hour figures match StormScope and these are the authors' own evaluations. The 410 minute radar nowcast framed as video generation was not found in any source read, so that claim is unsupported and not refuted. The mask diffusion transformer with missing radar data matches EchoCast-3D's abstract, though the links among the three systems in the note were not verified as one project. The sky now files its own precipitation log is the author's take.

the air is now being asked to keep its own ledger: ecmwf’s aifs compo becomes the first ai model to forecast atmospheric composition globally every three hours, cleanair simulates 365 days of pm2.5 over china in ten seconds, and a unified framework maps six pollutants at one kilometer across the whole country. the air now files its own composition report.

the current is now being asked to draw its own map: china’s langya 2.0 predicts six ocean phenomena including internal waves and mesoscale eddies, a deep net called wenhai resolves eddies globally with air sea flux formulas built in, and scripps infers surface currents from the way temperature patterns deform in satellite images. the ocean now files its own circulation report.

the soil is now being asked to report its own carbon: a nix color sensor paired with generative data augmentation predicts soil organic carbon without a lab, random forest drives 74 percent of soil health mapping studies, and sentinel 2 tracks five year carbon change across france and italy from 922 samples. the dirt now files its own carbon account.
