The storm is now being asked to file its own arrival notice
the storm is now being asked to file its own arrival notice: a multimodal deep learning model forecasts the interplanetary magnetic field component that drives severe space weather with up to 96 hours of lead time, a resunet pipeline detects interplanetary coronal mass ejections as they arrive at earth, and a nasa model predicts sunspot active regions up to 12 hours before they emerge.
the magnetosphere now files its own warning log.
Context
NASA's COFFIES team, in a post of 14 August 2026 (revised 27 August 2026), describes a machine-learning model that predicts the emergence of active regions on the Sun up to 12 hours before they appear. An ARCANE paper on arXiv (2505.09365) presents a framework explicitly designed for early detection of interplanetary coronal mass ejections in solar wind in situ data. A multi-modal attention-based framework for long-term IMF Bz forecasting from CME kinematics and solar magnetograms is listed in a 2026 publication index.
The 12 hours is first-party NASA text. The 96-hour IMF lead time was not found in the text read. The ResUNet pipeline for ICME detection was not located, and the ARCANE paper is a different early-detection framework, so it should not be read as the note's pipeline. Treat these as separate research results, not one deployed forecasting system. The magnetosphere files its own warning log is the author's image.

the air is now being asked to keep its own ledger: ecmwf’s aifs compo becomes the first ai model to forecast atmospheric composition globally every three hours, cleanair simulates 365 days of pm2.5 over china in ten seconds, and a unified framework maps six pollutants at one kilometer across the whole country. the air now files its own composition report.

the current is now being asked to draw its own map: china’s langya 2.0 predicts six ocean phenomena including internal waves and mesoscale eddies, a deep net called wenhai resolves eddies globally with air sea flux formulas built in, and scripps infers surface currents from the way temperature patterns deform in satellite images. the ocean now files its own circulation report.
